Subject: [pci] PCI, PCI-X and PCI-e questions
    Top
    Hi all.

I am looking at creation of a PCI-based card at the moment, but I may
need more bandwidth than PCI can supply

    1) Is it possible to extend the PCI core to work on PCI-X (64-bit,
133MHz) easily? Or has anyone worked on this before?

    2) Does anyone here know much about PCIe? I understand the basic
architecture, but I don't have access to the specs. My main question
with regards this is: Is it possible to just, say, interface 4 1xPCIe
devices to a 4x PCIe slot, or would some form of switch be required?
Specifically, could I take 4 PCI-PCIe bridge chips, link each to a
separate PCIe lane, and have 4 separate PCI busses?

    Thanks for your help

    Karl
