    Go to ieee and have a look at the different aproaches on video systems.
    There are tons of papers on how videos are processed in software,
    in dsps, in hardware and mixed aproaches.

    But first thing you need to understand is what the difference
    between software, dsp and fpgas are and where their advantages
    and disadvantages are. Just asking here wont help as this is
    a question that needs lots of teaching and experience. So, you
    should look for books explaining the different technologies.
